Life can throw you a bunch of crap, but you get to choose how you react to it and how you feel about it. In fact, your thoughts play the biggest role in every outcome you experience. The awesome news is that you can shift your thoughts in a way that helps you experience the outcome you want. So, how powerful are your thoughts?
Your Thoughts Determine Your Overall Life
What you think about doesn’t just determine how you feel. It also determines what you attract into your through various ways, including how much action take.
Your thoughts determine what actions you will (or will not) take, which determines what you bring into your life. Taking action is important for manifesting the life we want. Without action, we can’t bring anything into our life.
For instance, if you think you are not attractive enough to be wanted by someone, then you may not try to talk to that person that you are interested in. And, if you don’t ever talk to someone you are interested in, you won’t ever attract a relationship into your life.
Alan Cohen wrote a book called ‘Why Your Life Sucks’, and in it he says that if you feel as though your life sucks, that’s serious. It’s a wake-up call to do something different, not more of the same. In other words, if you do not feel positive about life, yourself, and others, then it’s time to do something different! Following are 5 tips from people who are known for their positive attitude towards life. Use them to do something different in your life.
1. Change The Way Perceive Things
The late Wayne Dyer has always said that if you change the way you think, you can experience more happiness right now. Wayne had a knack for positivity, and it seems as though he was born with it.
One example he gave was when he was young and a teacher informed his class that they were the worst class she had ever had. At recess, many of the students were upset, but not Wayne. He said, “If this is the worst class she’s got, then she’s got it pretty easy!”
As Jack Nicholson said, “A lot of people can’t remember things because they weren’t actually there to begin with.” When you are focused on the past or the future, you are not really paying attention to your life as it happens.
Living in the present moment will help you to be happier, healthier, more focused, less stressed, less fearful, more in control, and countless other things. It’s the number one way to take control of your life and live it with purpose. So how can you get more present in your life?
1. Remind Yourself Daily How Important The Present Moment Is
Living in the moment doesn’t just help you to experience and enjoy your life, it also helps define what is going to happen to you in the future. You can make better and healthier decisions in life when you are focused on the moment, and for happiness and success that is very important.
Depending on who you ask, the question about whether or not we live in a fate-driven world will result in a bunch of different answers. People will give answers based on their experiences, their mood, their frustration, and their hopes. But, do we really have the ability to choose the direction of our lives or is it all written in the stars?
It’s Beyond My Control!
Many people live with the notion that what happens has been planned out for them. Many of these people are religious and believe that God has a plan for them that is unfolding exactly the way it should. In other words, when something bad or good happens, it was meant to happen and is a part of the bigger picture that God has laid out for them.
Luck is a word we use often. We talk about good luck, bad luck, and sheer dumb luck. But when you take a step back and think about it, luck is really just a result of one thing.
Luck Follows A Choice
Every time you have a lucky experience, it followed a choice you made. For instance, you may have chosen to sit in one seat over another on the bus and met a new friend or lover because of it. Or you may have decided to spend a few extra minutes enjoying breakfast instead of rushing out the door and narrowly avoided an accident. While it may seem like a random occurence, it really just happened because of a choice that you made.
Even gambling is a matter of choice.
– You choose red instead of black and lose
– You choose one slot machine over the other and watch someone win a jackpot on the other machine
– You choose to try one more twenty in a machine instead of going home and end up winning a jackpot
Attention and intention are two important parts of getting the life you want. But is one better than the other? It’s important to understand how they are different and how they work together to help you get the relationships, career, and life that you want.
Attention vs Intention
Your attention can be defined as your awareness or your consciousness. It’s where you focus your energy when you are really living in the moment. It’s how you think about someone or something. It’s how you judge someone or something. It’s how you pay attention and observe what is going on around you.
By using your attention, you can get insight into where you are, what you want, and where you want to go. In short, you get a clearer picture of where your actions and behaviors have gotten you.
Being truly happy requires you to develop some positive habits that improve your mood and keep you optimistic. Following are 10 habits of happy people that you may want to incorporate into your life.
1. They Express Gratitude
Study after study shows that gratitude makes you happier. It helps you enjoy experiences, improve your health, build better relationships, and have more positive emotions.
The reason gratitude equates to happiness is simple. The more you focus on what you are grateful for, the more you will see things to be grateful for.
Procrastination is not just something you ‘should’ overcome, it is something you must overcome if you want to be successful. All successful people understand how important it is to beat procrastination.
Wayne Gretzky, one of the most successful hockey players of all time, said, “Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases, and its toll on success and happiness is heavy.” In short, if you want to live your ideal life full of happiness and satisfaction, work towards overcoming it starting right now.
