TD Jakes has one amazing thing to say after another. I’m not exaggerating. I can’t count the number of aha moments I’ve had while listening to him. While he is a pastor, you don’t need to be religious to benefit from his lessons. What he says makes sense for everyone who wants to become better and happier. His mission is helping people find their purpose and fulfill their destiny, and we can all benefit from that kind of person.
You can listen to TD Jakes in his sermons, during his guest appearances, and on YouTube, or you can read more by him on his blog. But, if you don’t have the time to do that, you will want to keep up with his Twitter account. You will find powerful bite-size advice on his Twitter that you can digest quickly and benefit from.
Let’s talk about some of the best of TD Jakes on Twitter from this year so far.
The Best Of TD Jakes On Twitter From January To April
Keep in mind that TD Jakes posts a few tweets per day, often quotes from his sermons, so you can check back often to see what he has to say during the day.
Best Of TD Jakes In January On Twitter
On the first day of January, T.D. Jakes tweeted out, “Selfish people cannot see beyond themselves! You are stuck because of what you “don’t care” about!”
For anyone who didn’t live up to their New Year’s resolutions, that tweet may be an eye-opener. When you are so focused on yourself, you don’t care about things outside of yourself, and that keeps you stuck.
For instance, if you are trying to advance your career, your focus on yourself may cause you to hurt other people along the way. When you do that, they will not help you or lift you up, and you will unintentionally be hurting your chances at an advancement. But, when you step out of a selfish mindset, you can see other people’s needs and desires, and you can help them achieve them. And, they, in turn, can help you achieve your needs and desires.
Another one of the best tweets from the first day of January was “People who live on Social Media, live on the mountains of life! How do you survive the valleys of life?”
This is something that we tend not to think about. Getting lost in social media means getting lost in ‘too good to be true’. Most people are sharing themselves in a positive light. Most people seem strong, without failure, and without troubles. But that’s not real life.
All of the people behind these accounts are struggling in different ways. They just aren’t sharing the low times, so you start to believe that all they experience is good times. When that happens, your own bad times seem extra bad. You start to question your life. Why am I the only one who has bad times? Why can’t I be as strong, lucky, and capable as the people you see on social media? Those questions will cause you to beat yourself up and struggle even more during the ‘valleys of life’.
TD Jakes is not saying that social media is a bad thing. Obviously, he uses social media to spread positive messages. He’s just saying that we need to realize that social media is not all it appears to be. Take everything with a grain of salt. Remember that everyone stands on mountains sometimes, but they also spend time moving through the valleys. With that awareness, your own life won’t seem so hard in compassion to the fabulous lives that people seem to have on social media.
Later in that week, TD Jakes tweeted out this – “Arguments don’t make life wonderful. Winning doesn’t make life wonderful. Love makes life wonderful.”
I think we all want to feel good during our day, and love is the key to doing so. Focusing on love instead of winning or being right is the best way to have a day that feels good and is full of pleasure. So, act with love, speak with love, make decisions based on love, talk about love, show love, spread love, and feel love for the most wonderful day (and life) you can have.
In the middle of January, TD Jakes tweeted, “I firmly believe that being in tune with your instinctive passions is a key factor success in this life.”
It’s interesting that he believes that. A lot of people in the self-improvement industry firmly believe that too. It’s an inspirational truth to help everyone see that they don’t need to do what is expected of them for their success. They need to follow their passions and do the things that they were drawn to do. I’ve found that the people who are most miserable and unsuccessful in life have let their passions die out and lost touch with their inner self and inner desires.
Later, he tweeted, “You have to have trust in order to receive favor!”
I love that tweet because it lines up with my beliefs in the law of attraction and getting what you want out of life. You need to ask for what you want in life, but you also have to trust that you are going to receive good things that you are hoping for. When you don’t, you stop what you want most from coming.
If you don’t trust that better times are coming, then you feel like life is never going to change and you stay focused on the bad things in life. When that happens, what do you see? Bad things! You see the failures. You see the letdowns. You see the misery. Your lack of trust keeps you from seeing the light and prevents you from grabbing a hold of it. And, when you can’t grab the light, you can’t ride it towards things that you want.
And at the end of January, he tweeted, “You don’t have to know everything to achieve your destiny.”
Again, I love that he focuses on destiny and living a life of passion. Too many people are taught to live a life that is expected of them and then they get stuck in an unhappy rut of doing things that they don’t want to do and living a life that is wasted on other people’s dreams. The fact that TD Jakes promotes living a full life is just one of the many reasons he’s someone I recommend listening to on a daily basis.
Best Of TD Jakes In February On Twitter
At the start of February, he tweeted, “My challenge to you today is to extend KINDNESS. You never know what a smile can do in the life of someone who needs it.”
Yes! That is the kind of man we need to have a huge influence over the world. Too many people in his position are promoting judgment. That doesn’t help create a better world. It only helps bring the world down further. Kindness, on the other hand, will create a more loving, compassion, and patient world that the next generation will enjoy living in.
In the middle of February, TD Jakes tweeted, “Hook up with people that want to see you advance!” and “Beware of ‘people pleasers’ – they’re the type that don’t stand for something, so they fall for anything!”
That is relationship advice you can use in your intimate relationships and work relationships to give you an advantage that other people don’t have.
The first tweet simply means that you should surround yourself with positive people who support you and lift you up, not drag you down. They are the people that will help you move forward towards the life you want. While people who want to destroy you can teach you more about your inner strength, they are too draining to be around often. The main people in your life should want to see you advance.
The second tweet will ring true for many people, especially most people who work with a lot of other people. There are always ‘people pleaser’ coworkers, and they are known to shift their opinions and behaviors like a feather in the wind. They don’t have their own beliefs and opinions, so they are easily swayed. That simply means they won’t have your back for long! They will agree with you and help you out one minute and then, if someone else convinces them to, they will stab you in the back just as easily. Remember, people who are too eager to please are not the type of people you want to trust with your happiness.
Another one of his best tweets is this – “You know you are walking in the newness of life by how you respond to old situations!”
For me, that hits home in a big way. I’ve noticed that I don’t respond to many things the way I used to. I don’t respond to negative people in the same way because I no longer take their negativity personally. I don’t respond to failure in the same way because I no longer view failure as a bad thing. I guess I’m walking in the newness of life!
How about you? Do you respond to things the same way you always have? Do you think you can’t change? If you do, you may want to reconsider! Life is always changing. You are always changing. It doesn’t matter where you are in life or what has happened, you have the potential to walk in the newness of life because you are capable of choice.
He also tweeted out, “The renewed mind is a process!”
That is something to remember during your struggles towards change. You can’t flip the switch one night and have a completely different life the next day. It’s a process.
– You need to collect new ideas.
– You need to start seeing things differently.
– You need to learn from other people.
– You need to practice what you learn.
All of that can take time. So, don’t rush the changes and focus on the end; instead, enjoy the process and capture every moment of your life!
And the last of the Best of TD Jakes for February is this – “What God has for you, is for YOU! The oil will not flow if it’s not meant for you!”
In other words, don’t try to live someone else’s life. Don’t try to get things that you know are not meant for you. Don’t try to live a life based on other people. If you want blessings, purpose, and success, stay true to your inner passions and do the things that YOU were put here to do. Celebrate your uniqueness. Embrace your unique talents. And, then watch the oil flow your way!
Best Of TD Jakes In March On Twitter
In the beginning of March, TD Jakes tweeted, “When God is fighting for you, He fights in ways you don’t even know how to use!”
That speaks to the unknown of life and how we may not always know how everything works, but that doesn’t mean we should deny it!
There are a lot of mysteries left to uncover. We have been shocked by discoveries in the past, and we will be shocked by discoveries in the future.
Moreover, sometimes things work out, even though we don’t know how it happened. Let’s accept that sometimes God, the universe, or whatever you believe in will help you fight a battle or receive the very thing you want.
Later in the week, he tweeted, “Life is too short to give SMALL thoughts space to reside. Set your mind on the things of HEAVEN!”
That tweet is one of the best of TD Jakes because it is a great reflection of what he believes in – use your life for something powerful and don’t waste it!
For me, small thoughts are those continuous thoughts that don’t help you out in life. They have nothing to do with what you want to achieve. They have nothing to do with the greatness you want to experience. They are thoughts that stem from worry, imagination, and pessimism, and if you let them reside for too long, they hold you back from achieving great things.
When you hold thoughts of greatness, you see and do great things. That sounds like a much better state to live in! So, listen to TD Jakes and squash those small, meaningless thoughts and bring in big and powerful thoughts.
Closer to the end of March TD Jakes tweeted, “It’s amazing how you can get into a system of survival and do something you hate daily & still be committed!”
Isn’t that the truth? We get ourselves into a spot where we take what comes and deal with whatever we must deal with, and then commit ourselves to doing it!
For instance, a friend of mine worked at a job he hated. He had a survival mentality. He thought, ‘Just do what needs to be done and get through the day and then go home.’ Every day he did that for 20 years. He was committed to something he hated. When he finally decided to get out, he stopped living in survival and started really living his life through his own choices and by doing things he loved. His advice is that we don’t need to live in survival mode. We don’t need to just survive our days. There is so much more that life can offer us.
Lastly, at the end of March, he tweeted out, “Hopelessness is the enemy of justice.”
While taking ‘Hope in Uncertain Times’ through the Chopra Center Meditation, I learned that hope can help us find our true path and create a better world for ourselves and other people. It is the catalyst to making good choices. It is the reason we keep doing what we are doing. It is the reason for getting out of bed in the morning and trying to accomplish something!
As TD Jakes tweeted, hope can also help bring about justice. If we hold hope, we will do what needs to be done. We will send out that positive energy and avoid making things worse. We will join other people who are hopeful and increase our power and capabilities.
Best Of TD Jakes In April On Twitter
We start off April with a tweet about taking advantage of opportunities. His advice is simple – “Don’t self-sabotage your opportunity because you don’t see yourself on a new level.”
Don’t refuse the opportunity thinking that you won’t make it. Don’t tell yourself how the future is going to be. Don’t ruin your chances at getting the outcome you hope for because you are unwilling to try. Take opportunities and run with them. Opportunities, both small and big, are the only things that will help you step up to a new level. Succeed or fail, at least you tried!
Later in the month, he tweeted, “Sometimes you have to carry stuff while bleeding, but God will give you strength to do so!”
That tweet is another way of saying ‘you are not given more than you can handle’. Even if you feel beat down, you can survive. It’s been proven time and time again. There is a universal force working for you, not against you, and if you trust in that force, you can make it through to the other side.
I’ve found that believing I’m not alone, even at my worst times, makes them much more bearable. You can take that next step if you know someone has your back and has better plans in store for you.
It’s just worth believing that a higher power is only giving you what you can handle. It helps you have faith that the strongest of us are often given the most because we can handle it. It helps you perceive struggles and down times differently and ensures you do things that help you experience more success in happiness in the long run.
Even though TD Jakes is a successful man, he has had his share of struggles. He tweeted, “Do you think that getting a NO is the end of your dreams? I’ve had more no’s than yes’s in my life.”
And look at all he’s accomplished with more nos than yeses! So, the next time you hear the word ‘no’, don’t let that affect your beliefs about what you are capable of. Some of the best and most successful people have had a hundred rejections before one acceptance. You don’t know when that ‘yes’ will come, but you do know that it will come! Other people have proven that!
Another one of his best tweets was this – “We can change the chef all we want to, but the real issue is – the oven is broken!”
I love this way of putting a simple truth… if we don’t fix what is at the heart of the problem, things will never change! You can bring in new bosses. You can create new positions. You can pretend to be someone you are not. But, if you don’t tackle the real issue that is causing the order to come out wrong, then you will never be able to ‘cook up’ the result you want.
Lastly, he tweeted, “If we are going to build relationships, we have to engage in people who aren’t like us.”
Why? It’s impossible to understand and get along with people if we are not willing to live in their world for a while, as TD Jakes implied in another tweet. We need to see things from their perspective, understand where they are coming from, and respect them for where they are at in order to build positive relationships that are beneficial for everyone.
Understanding that truth has changed my life. It’s helped me build relationships with people who have influenced me and the direction of life positively. It’s helped me build relationships that have changed my perception on things and expand my awareness. I believe it can do the same for you. In fact, I believe it could do the same for everyone.
What Will Be The Best Of TD Jakes This Month?
As you can see, TD Jakes has a ton of advice to help you live a better life. You will become wiser, more compassionate, and more willing to go after the life you want if you follow him and listen to his advice. His sermons are powerful and full of advice that doesn’t make it onto his Twitter or other pages. But, if you don’t have the time to watch his sermons, then make sure you follow his Twitter account and get those bite-sized pieces of wisdom daily. They are often the most important points – the ones that help get across his message.
