Here’s Your 4-Step Golden Ticket To Happiness!

Congratulations! You just won the golden ticket to happiness! All the information you need to be happier is here. All you have to do is grab hold of the ticket, believe in the process, and take the steps laid out here, and you will start to become happier almost instantly.

Let me be clear: This is an opportunity you should take. Happiness is a right that we all have in life, and it is completely in our hands to take advantage of that right. If you don’t do it, nobody else will do it for you.

Ready? Let’s start!

Step 1: Get Clear On Your Beliefs

I bet you thought I was going to say ‘Get Clear On Your Goals!’ but that’s not the first thing you need to for happiness. Your beliefs make you who you are. Therefore, if you are unhappy, your beliefs are making you unhappy.

Where you are right now is a reflection of what you believe is possible for you. If you are unhappy, you may have beliefs like:

– I am unworthy of success
– No one will love me
– I am not good enough to get what I want
– I don’t have the abilities to be successful
– I fail at everything I do

Or, your beliefs may be a little more subtle than that. For example, you may believe that you just can’t seem to make it work no matter how hard you try. Subtle negative beliefs are still negative beliefs that keep you stuck in life.

Take some time to write out all the beliefs you know you have about yourself. These are the things you say to yourself when obstacles arise, when failure happens, and when fear strikes. These are the things you say to yourself when you feel like you are not living up to your potential or getting what you want. Think back through your week and write down every negative thing you said to yourself that is a belief you have.

Once you become aware of your beliefs, you will see that the constant negative beliefs you have about yourself are making life harder than it needs to be, which is keeping happiness an arm length away from you at all times. Your beliefs are sending out the same thoughts over and over again, so your behavior repeats itself day after day and you maintain the same level of happiness because of that.

The good news is that you can change your beliefs. You can get clear on the beliefs you want to have and take charge of them and your happiness.

Instead of focusing on the beliefs you currently have, let’s focus on the beliefs you want to have. Make a list of the beliefs you would like to have within a few months from now that will make you happy. Make them relevant to you. For instance, you could want to believe, “I find work fun and exciting!” or “I am feeling accomplished at the end of each day.”

Now, take a look at your desired beliefs and list some steps you need to take to reach them. For example, if you want to find work more fun and exciting, you could change the way you talk to yourself about work or change the people you hang out with at work. You will have some ideas of what you need to do. They will probably look much different from what you are doing right now.

Now that you have an action plan, take action! Make those actions daily habits that you start to implement. Put your desired beliefs on a vision board to help you really drive home how important they are to you. When you can see what you want to believe, you will be more motivated to work towards those beliefs. As you work on developing your new beliefs, your old beliefs will start to fade away and happiness will start to take their place.

As you look at it, sit tall with your shoulders pulled back so that you feel emotions towards the things you want on your vision board. When you get emotionally involved in what you want to achieve, you are more likely to get and stay motivated.

Step 2: Get Clear On Your Goals

Now that you have taken note of the beliefs that are holding you back, and the beliefs you want to develop, it’s time to get clear on what will really make you feel accomplished in life. Your happiness depends on this.

When you make goals aligned with your true self, and accomplish them, you will feel happiness at the core. You will feel fulfilled, on track, and as though life is here to support you. How could you not be happy?

Up until this point, your goals may have been a little fuzzy. You will find that as you work on developing new, positive beliefs, your goals will become much clearer to you. Believing in yourself has a way of making your true desires come to life.

Take some time now to sit down and get clear on your goals. It is important to create goals in every area of your life. Why? Because balance in your life is important for happiness.

When you create goals solely for work, but not for your relationships, mental health, spirituality, health, or personal development, you will find yourself focusing too much on work and not enough on other essential areas of your life that contribute to happiness. A balanced life, full of fulfillment, will make happiness unavoidable.

It’s best to tackle each part of your life at once. It doesn’t matter where you start, just pick an area of your life that you feel is most important to you and write down the goals that you want to accomplish within your lifetime, within a few years from now, within a few months from now, and within a few weeks from now.

If you have too many goals and it becomes overwhelming, then narrow your goals down to the ones that resonate is most important to you. Those are the goals that you will want to focus on for now. Your long-term goals may change later on down the road, but it is important to start working towards the goals you desire most now so that you can work towards more happiness.

Step 3: Eliminate What Is Not Working For You

Now that you have a clear picture of the beliefs and goals that you want to achieve, it is time to eliminate stuff from your life that is not working to help you achieve those goals.

It is not enough to take action on changing your beliefs and goals if you have negative people or things in your life that are slowing you down. These negative aspects in your life will make it harder to achieve the results you want, and may even hold you back from getting them at all.

Firstly, tackle all the distractions you deal with on a daily basis. These are the things that hold you back from doing what you need to do to reach your goals.

Distractions can include social media, TV, YouTube, friends, a disorganized workspace, and much more. This is personal to you. You know what steals your focus from the things you want in life and wastes your time, and it is important that you eliminate as many as the things as possible so that you can start putting your focus on what you do want in life and making the most of your time for ultimate happiness.

Secondly, stop comparing yourself to others. When you evaluate yourself from what other people are doing, you will be harder on yourself than need be. Other people are doing what they need to do to find happiness, but it doesn’t mean that you need to copy what they are doing. How you act, what you have, and how you go about your day is all uniquely personal to you. As long as it is working for you, then it doesn’t matter how it compares to other people.

Thirdly, let go of responsibilities that don’t need your attention. You may have fallen into some habits that are not serving your life in a positive way. For instance, you may spend more time doing stuff for others than you do stuff for yourself. Obviously this is going to keep you from achieving the goals you set out for yourself, so it is important to say no to stuff that you can say no to.

As an example, I used to find myself helping out my coworkers instead of focusing on things that would benefit my career more. I spent a lot of time helping other people achieve their goals rather than working towards my own. Once I let go of the need to be accepted by my coworkers, I could see that their work was not my responsibility and I was able to redirect my focus to more important things that needed my attention.

You may not have any coworkers. But you may need to let go of responsibilities for your friends, family, or neighbors. This doesn’t mean you should lose all compassion and focus solely on yourself, because that won’t make you happy, but if responsibilities are getting in the way of your happiness, you have to take some sort of action on them.

Fourthly, increase your productivity. This means using your time to your advantage. By eliminating distractions and letting go of unnecessary responsibilities, you have already freed up a lot of your time to be more productive. But there are other things you can do.

You can seek help from other people to work towards your goals faster. You can organize your day in a way that you use your energy appropriately, with harder tasks in the morning and easier tasks in the afternoon. You can write down inspirations that pop up into your head so that you can work on them when you have time instead of in a moment where you are focused on being productive. You can even use apps to help you manage what you need to get done.

For instance, using a goal tracking software can help you keep track of everything you want to achieve, the steps you need to take to get you there, the habits that can also help you reach your goals, and your daily to-do list.

Lastly, fight your fears. Your fears are what will hold you back from pursuing your goals. The fear of being judged, embarrassed, failing, and even the fear success can stand in the way of your happiness. When you move past your fears, everything you want will be more accessible.

There are many ways to fight your fears, but the best way is to keep your goals and the rewards you will receive from them, such as happiness, in your mind. When your desire for happiness outweighs your fear, you will move forward despite what obstacle is in your way.

Step 4: Surround Yourself With Happiness

The last step to make happiness a permanent part of your life is to surround yourself with happiness. In step three you may have decided to remove some negative people from your life. It is important to also add some positive people into your life. Being surrounded by positive people is one of the easiest ways to happiness. Their energy, attitudes, beliefs, and habits naturally rub off on you, and you can’t help but feel good.

To meet people who make you happy, go out to get involved in activities that make you happy. The people there will have a lot of the same interests you have, and because they are actively taking apart in what they are interested in, they are actively working on their happiness as well.

You may also want to surround yourself with the happiest souls on earth. Animals bring so much happiness into your life for the time that they are here. Not only are they forgiving, nonjudgmental, and full of love, but they require your love and attention in order to survive. You will find that taking care of an animal in a way that makes them feel happy, will add to your happiness exponentially.

And lastly, make a conscious choice to focus on happy news and stories. Some of the unhappiest people I know watch the news on a regular basis. The news and other negative shows affect how you feel about yourself and everything around you. In other words, they affect your happiness in a negative way.
