Getting into the habit of giving up when difficulties or obstacles arise is easy. You start something new and exciting, you face an obstacle, you give up, and the circle starts again. Common excuses help you move through this circle of failure with ease.
It is much harder to keep going in the face of struggle. But, it is the only way to get the life you really want and get off the hamster wheel of failure. In today’s world, there are a few things you need to do to persist and persevere no matter what.
Ignore The Haters
For whatever reason, there is always someone to hate on your parade. And, with the help of social media and the Internet, that hate is more prevalent than ever. Other people’s opinions can make you feel horrible about yourself and what you are doing and, thus, cause you to quit.
It’s important to remember that it doesn’t matter how much good you are trying to do for yourself or someone else, there is always a hater ready to put you down and try to make you feel bad about yourself. Their opinion, though, is based out of their own fear and insecurities, not on what you are doing.
Haters are mean for many reasons. For instance:
– They want something you have and feel jealous
– They think they deserve what you have more than you do
– They are a racist
– They are sexist
– They are cruel
– Their life is so boring that they have nothing better to do
– They are mistreated or abused and need to take their anger out on someone
But most of all, haters will try to make you feel bad because they can. Putting other people down makes them feel powerful, and as long as they have a voice to try to feel better about themselves, they will use it.
People who are doing the greatest things in this world have a lot of haters. But, that doesn’t mean that what they are doing is not still great or impactful on their lives and on others. Remember that as you are met with people who try to drag you down as you persist and persevere.
Focus On The Rewards
It’s easy to sit around all day and watch TV. But does that really matter to your life in the grand scheme of things? No! The things that are rewarding to your life are harder to do and they require persistence and perseverance.
Changing your habits from bad habits to good habits requires persistence and perseverance. Good habits can improve your health, success, happiness, and relationships.
Starting a new job and doing it well requires persistence and perseverance. A new job can bring in a new income and give you a sense of satisfaction in life.
Making a relationship healthier and happier requires persistence and perseverance. A healthy relationship can provide the support, love, and attention that we all need in life.
When you realize how important the things that matter are to your life, you will have a much easier time sticking with the tasks that help you maintain or move towards them.
It’s easy to stop in the face of an obstacle if you are not accountable to anyone or anything. For instance, dropping a workout routine when it starts to feel uncomfortable is easy when you are the only one who knows you are working out. But, when you are part of a support group with people trying to reach a fitness goal, it is much harder to drop out and, consequently, much easier to persist and persevere.
If you don’t have anyone to be accountable to in your daily life, get online and take a challenge of some sort – or create a challenge. When you are forced to actively show proof that you are doing something towards your goals, you will be much more likely to stick with them.
