You will never feel truly successful in life. You will achieve something, feel great about it for a few days, and then want something more. That is the way life goes. We are always reaching and striving for something more. No matter how much we get, we know there is more out there so we want it.
That’s not a bad thing. The drive to have more is what motivates us to keep growing and pushing ourselves. But, it’s important to remember that the euphoric feeling you are looking for from achieving some level of success in life is probably not going to happen. Life will be a journey of awesome achievements and striving for more.
3. Failure Is A Part Of Success
Failure and success go hand in hand. In order to figure out how to be successful, you have to fail a few times. Failure teaches you what NOT to do in the future so that you have a better chance of reaching the level of success you want. Every time you fail, you grow a little, so celebrate failure!

In order to have the success you want, you have to make goals. If you don’t, then the chances are very high you will start and stop new things that help you achieve your goals, but never achieve anything. Creating and writing down your goals helps you stay committed and on track. You will be able to clearly see where you are going and what you have left to do to achieve the success you want.
But there’s a catch. You have to be motivated to achieve your goals. If you are not, then you may work on them for a few weeks – or maybe even a few months, but soon the lack of motivation and commitment will force you to drop them and find something more rewarding to do.
How do you know if you are going to be motivated towards a goal? There are some questions you can ask yourself to predict whether or not you are going to stick with a goal that you create. Following are 5 of them.
1. Can I visualize achieving this goal?
Research has shown that if you can’t visualize yourself doing what you need to do and becoming who you want to become, it won’t happen. 2. Would I do this even if nobody knew I was doing it?
A lot of times we do things to impress other people, not necessarily ourselves. If you can’t see yourself doing something, even if no one else knew about it, then you are not likely to stay motivated towards the goal. However, if it means a lot to you, and you would work towards this goal solely for your own satisfaction, then it will likely be something you stick to!
3. Will I get some kind of reward from this goal?
The carrot at the end of the stick is a huge motivator for all of us. We all want to be ‘paid’ in some way for the work we put in. Will you get a big enough payoff if you achieve the goal?
4. Do I have the time to achieve this goal?
If you have too much going on, then adding something else to your life will be hard. It will take away time from your social life. It will take away time from other things that you want to do. And, you will likely give up on it so that you can free up your time. If you have too much going on, then you may need to drop a few other things from your life if you really want to achieve this goal.
5. How long will it take?
Many people set long-term goals, such as ‘I will make a million dollars in ten years from now’, but are you prepared to work for ten years straight to reach your goal? The chances are good that when you don’t get a reward of some kind quickly, you won’t keep striving towards your goal, no matter how big the payoff is.
Shorter goals are better when it comes to how to be successful in life. These can be subsets of your big goals, but they should feel rewarding so that you easily create another goal for more success.
Always Re-Evaluate Your Goals
Once you know what you want, you can create a plan to get it. But, your first plan may not work out well. You may set yourself up on a path to nowhere, and if you keep taking steps on that path, then you are not going to have the success you want.
For example, a friend of mine started working online. His definition of success was having an online business that thrived and allowed him to work from home while he supported his family. For years he did the same things over and over again and only had a little bit of success. He never re-evaluated what steps he needed to take to reach the kind of success he wanted because he believed his first business plan was the right plan and he just had to stick with it. Eventually he ended up leaving the online world and never achieved the success he wanted simply because he refused to change up his approach to achieving it.
I have seen many people achieve the success they want online by re-evaluating where they are each month. That’s a good time frame to stop, take a look at what is working and what is not, and then set up a new game plan. There are many aspects of our lives, and it is important to find some level of success in all of them. With each bit of insight, you will find yourself growing and turning into the type of person that always finds success in their ventures.
Expect things to get hard: Sometimes it is going to feel hard to stick to your goals and work towards the success you want. Some days you are going to want to do nothing and, maybe, even stop doing everything. As said, you can’t give up. There will be bad days, and that is a part of life. You are a human who can experience a wide range of emotions that make you question everything you do. Don’t resist those emotions. Feel them and learn from them. If you need to change something, then change it. If you need to take a day off, then do that. Don’t pretend that things don’t feel hard or you will feel bad about yourself and what you are doing. You will struggle until you acknowledge your feelings and figure out why you are having them. Therefore, work through the emotions to overcome them and continue on your path to a successful life.
Other people don’t affect your ability to succeed: You can’t blame other people for your lack of success. If you are not achieving success, it is not because someone is cursing you. It’s not because you are not getting enough help or support. It is not because someone else is dragging you down. It’s not because someone else is judging you or laughing at you. All of those situations happen because of your choices or because of their perception. You have no control over their perception, but you do have total control over your choices! When you start to take ownership of your life, then you will start to make the choices that benefit you the most and stop putting all of your potential in other people’s hands.
