The Science of Getting Rich – A Book Review

Do you want to get rich?

I’ve heard about this book forever, but I only just read it. Why? Maybe the word ‘science’ had something to do with it. But, because The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles was the inspiration behind The Secret – one of the books that changed my life, I knew that reading it was only going to benefit my life in some way. So, I did. Following is my review.

You Deserve To Be Rich

What I loved most about The Science of Getting Rich is that it promotes getting rich without guilt or shame. Wallace D. Wattles says that the best thing you can do, not just for yourself, but for God and humanity, is to make the most out of yourself.

What a great concept! When you make the most out of yourself, you can contribute to this world in the most powerful way possible. That concept is hard for most people who have been told that money makes you greedy and unliked. But, when you read this book and understand why poverty will hold you back, and why being rich will help you shine, you can’t deny that being rich is a really good thing.

The Book’s Principles Are Solid Still Today

Even though this book was written in 1910, the principles in it are still true today. Not everything stays the same throughout 100 years, but the way to get rich and have abundance truly has.

The book talks about being the change you want to see, which is something we are only starting to really learn today. Leading by example is the only way to really impact other people and, ultimately, change the world.

It also talks about important abundance concepts, such as:

– Doing what you love and making the most out of your talents
– Having gratitude for the ‘intelligent substance’ that gives you everything you want (and by doing so staying connected to it)
– Having hope and staying true to your vision with the purpose of creating it into reality
– Taking action instead of sitting around and waiting for results

All of these concepts are so clearly explained that I found myself shaking my head ‘yes’ over and over and over again. It resonated with me on a deeper level than it has ever resonated with me before – and that is saying a lot. I finished the book feeling a certain high from my new understanding of these concepts.

If I could travel back in time, I would go back to talk to Wallace D. Wattles at the moment he started seeing these simple truths so clearly. It would be amazing to see the excitement and clarity he had in person.

Who Was Wallace D. Wattles?

You’ve heard the name before because his writing has been associated with the self-help movement since – well, forever. He spent much of life is poverty, but at the end of his life he was a very successful man. He claimed that he had tested the ideas he wrote about and it was obvious that they were working.

If you would rather sit on the couch for the next month, year, or decade, and see if anything will magically happen, then no.
